Brief Bio – Danielle Keys
Danielle Keys serves as the Assistant County Executive Officer and Director of Human Resources for the County of Ventura. With over two decades of experience in Human Resources—and more than 15 years dedicated to public sector service—Danielle is known for her steadfast commitment to the “Humans” in Human Resources. She leads HR operations for more than 10,000 county employees, championing culture, innovation, organizational efficiency, and compassionate leadership.
A proven change agent and collaborative leader, Danielle has extensive expertise in labor relations, having served as chief negotiator for complex public safety and general bargaining units. Danielle has steered HR initiatives through critical periods, including the COVID-19 emergency, helping organizations navigate remote work, operational contingency planning, and evolving workforce needs.
Danielle is also an experienced trainer, facilitator, and peer support liaison, trusted by county departments and partner agencies for her balanced and empathetic approach. She credits her professional journey to hard work, faith, and family.
